What is BNI ?
BNI is the leading world-wide business referral organisation. Its philosophy is based on "givers gain" – if I give you business, you will want to give me business. BNI is organised into local "chapters" who meet every week to learn more about each others' businesses and to refer new business to each other. Chapters can give dozens of referrals a month to members, generating thousands of pounds worth of business. Word of mouth is the most cost-effective form of advertising possible and last year in the UK and Ireland, more than 470,000 referrals were passed, creating £150 million-worth of business for members.
In essence, each individual member has all the other chapter members acting as “sales reps” for his or her business. And with only one person per trade or profession in a chapter, there are no conflicts of interest.
Members also invite visitors along to show them the benefits that BNI membership can offer.
Who are BNI Alba ?
A dedicated group of business people who set their alarm clocks early every Wednesday morning to attend a breakfast meeting on Glasgow’s south side.
The Alba Chapter of Business Network International (BNI) was established in 2002 and its members include a wide range of trades and professions all seeking to help each other get more business by word of mouth referrals.
Today, the Alba Chapter has over 20 members who rise at the crack of dawn to make their way to the Swallow Hotel in Paisley Road West – and several of them have been attending since day one. As a reward for the early start, coffee, tea and breakfast is served (usually, cereal, fruit, juice, toast and rolls). More importantly, the members bring business for one another every week - the value ranges from around £50 to £500,000!
